I’ve waited long enough – it’s vacation time! I can basically already feel the sand between my toes and the ocean breeze in my hair. But, there is still one last step to go over before leaving – the dreaded packing. You’d think I’ve gotten it down by now, but I still wish I could bring my entire closet with me every single time. But this is not my first packing crisis, so here’s how I tackled it:
First and foremost, I pack my travel beauty essentials: I like to keep a makeup bag with a travel toothbrush and toothpaste, Lancome Grandiose Waterproof mascara, a travel mani and pedi kit, dry shampoo and the staple Naked palette. Then when I am ready to go, I will pop in whichever products are my favorite at the moment (remember to constantly adapt to your skin’s needs!).
Even if you aren’t keen on wearing makeup on your vacation, make sure you bring your moisturizer, lip balm, and a good cleanser. When that is out of the way, I can focus on the hard part: the outfits.
I already know I will be spending the majority of my time on the beach, so I am putting all of my focus onto my swimsuits. Being a petite swimwear fit specialist with SwimSpot, I’ve learned exactly what the right bathing suits are for my extra small frame. As my primary, go-to piece, I chose this SwimSpot bikini because I just love the way it accentuates all of my best features: the ruffles give me a fuller bust, while the bottoms show off the best of my legs – not to mention how the bright orange complements my skin tone!
But the swimsuit is not where the outfit ends. Beach fashion has come so far and I love planning out different outfits combos. I like to match my swimsuits with complementary cover-ups, light kimonos, and even beach dresses. The best part is: all of these items are so lightweight so I have no problem packing them into my suitcase.
A little trick I love to use is to pick a bikini with an interesting design on top – like a caged look or a mesh detail – and wear it underneath a deep neckline dress.
Of course, we can’t forget about the cherry on top – the accessories. A big beach hat and a durable beach bag are must-haves, and comfortable shoes come right behind them. I like to have a pair of casual flip-flops to protect my feet from the hot sand before I hit the water and a pair of platform sandals for nights out and sightseeing. I went light with jewelry because wearing a lot of statement pieces during the summer can give you some odd tan lines. Of course, I can’t forget my Smart Buy Glasses to protect my eyes and a whole lot of sunscreen to protect my skin.
I finished off my packing list with my favorite beach towel, an inflatable beach ball and I’m ready to have some fun in the sun!
