5 Ways to Get Inspired

Let's Talk

Whether you’re writing, creating, or just need to be motivated, at times finding inspiration can be pretty difficult. That’s why I am sharing my 5 favorite things to do to be inspired and get those motivational wheels moving.

I love going shopping but the majority of the time I just like to look. When shopping around with no intent in purchasing, I suggest going to the most expensive stores in your city. Since I live in LA I like to go to Neiman Marcus and explore. I like to snap a few pics for later research or for an Instagram post, and if anyone asks if I need help finding something I say I’m just looking because that’s exactly what I’m doing! If I hold something in my hand like a new Celine bag or an Oscar De La Renta gown and a clerk asks if I need help I just say I am taking a picture for a client. If you didn’t know already, you all are my clients. “Window Shopping” is so fun and it’s inspiring to see the most unique designs.

I encourage you to not get wrapped up in the idea of not being able to afford something or wishing you had more money to purchase those Christin Louboutin shoes. I honestly believe that you doing this with joy in your heart you create a vision that will inspire you to work harder so you can afford to shop full force at Neiman Marcus. Just have fun, enjoy and make sure you continue to remind yourself that you are finding inspiration!

Every Sunday from 2-5pm many Real Estate Agents open the doors to multi-million dollar homes all across Los Angeles. These homes ate for sale and Real Estate agents love for anyone to come and check them out. Again this technique is similar to “window shopping” but in this form of inspiration I like to admire the architecture and interior designs. At an open house you can really get the feel of how the home owners lived. I have experienced some amazing inspiration from being in someone else’s home! It’s incredible how some homes are designed and how they are decorated. I personally loving seeing a pool in the backyard. The crystal blue water is soothing to me. make sure you grab the copy of information about the home so that you can review it later for inspiration.

Sometimes sitting down to read a book can be difficult for me. I have no idea how I did it in college. With my busy life and my lack of ability to stay still for too long, I have created my car to be a University on Wheels. I listen to self-help books none stop. It’s amazing I still know the lasted music hits  because I only listen to books when driving. My audio book obsessions include everything and all things Bob Proctor, Jen Sincero, and I am currently listening to “Rich Bitch” by Nicole Lapin. Listening is great active practice in itself, but listening to the encouragement from these three authors have inspired me to believe I can do anything and I mean ANYTHING! Make your car a listening library of inspirational books and I promise you will feel more driven than ever before!

In high school my english teacher would ask my class to get in groups and brainstorm. Back then brainstorming was so hard for me! I now realize that it wasn’t that brainstorming was challenging it was the fact that the subject was not interesting to me at all. Now that I get to write about what I love and what I am passionate about, brainstorming is no longer a “storm” but rather a breeze – Brainbreeze. That’s why I want to encourage you meet up with a friend or relative to discuss your ideas. For me this person is my mom. She can tell you that when I call her and when I start the conversation with, “I have an idea…” she knows it’s brainbreeze time. Sometimes just saying your ideas out loud can bring inspiration in itself. Also when telling someone you trust, could start a conversation that will develop an idea that you never had before. Enjoy these moments and run with them!

A vision board is a process of flipping through magazines, cutting out everything you would like to have for your future and gluing them on a poster board. For me this is one of the most relaxing things to accomplish. I personally have 3 vision boards. I have one that displays everything I want when it comes to my future family. My second one is an assortment of beautiful homes and interior designs. My favorite VB is my third and it shows everything I want in my career as a blogger. Creating a vision board is like shopping for your life. If you want to complete college put a picture of a diploma on your VB. If you want to travel to India, put a map of the country on your vision board. This vision board is for you! Don’t worry about having to explain your vision board to anyone else, this display of your goals and dreams is for you and for you only. Enjoy looking at it everyday for inspiration.

Inspiration comes in many different forms and can develop into thousands of new ideas and new motivations you could only dream of. I encourage you to release energy to develop an abundance of inspiration. Again don’t be discourage by your inspiration but rather embarrass it and let it develop a fire in you to live the life you’ve always wanted to live! I am so excited for you and what you are about to discover through personal inspiration.

Thank you all for reading! I am always looking for new was to be inspired so please comment below on how you find inspiration. I really want to hear your thoughts.

xoxo

Great tips! I love creating a vision board. They’re great fun and always get me feeling inspired.

  • Reply Allie June 21, 2016 at 10:16 pm

Love it, C! I couldn’t agree more with the vision boards, Oprah said the same thing years ago and I never forgot it. They constantly remind you what you’re working towards. You’re headed places thinking like her;)
My vision board(s) are in the form of Pinterest and the different ones I make for various goals IE: Fitness, Home, motivational quotes, travel. I find myself at peace and definitely motivated after looking at them!!

Love the idea of the open houses, what a great idea if you’re decorating or have some free time. So lucky to have a creative BFF!!

    xx– Allie
